LISTON, MARY JEANETTE (JOHNSON), 80, of Louisville, joined her heavenly Father on Thursday, January 21, 2010.
Mary was born February 18, 1929 in New Haven, KY to Valeria and Stanley Johnson. She is remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and neighbor and will be greatly and dearly missed by all. She graduated from St. Catherine High School in New Haven and moved to Louisville to work for South Central Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator.
She was an active member of St. Basil Catholic Parish and was well known for her strong Christian faith, warm smile and friendly hello to everyone she met.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Joseph B. "JB" Johnson.
Mary is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, James J. Liston; her brother, Joseph S. "Hup" Johnson (Betty); her children, James "Jimmy" Liston III (Kitt), Sherree Hoskins (Veral, Michael Liston (Pam) and Roxy Craig; seven grandchildren, James "Jay" Liston IV (Jessica), Kori Jones (Trevor), Jamie Decker (Shayne), Joseph Hoskins (Darrell), Tony Liston, Casey Hoskins and Paul Craig; five great-grandchildren, Camden Chatham, Natausha Liston, Hunter Hoskins, Madi Stargel and Cori Yates.
The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to Dr. Sheth, Hospice and the nursing staff at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital for the kind and dedicated care to Mary.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Monday at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, St. Denis Campus, 4205 Cane Run Road, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation: 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy.
