Obituary

Whittaker- Grace Rose; of West Roxbury, September 23, 2003, beloved daughter of the late George V. and Mary (Norton) Whittaker, sister of the late Rev. Msgr. George N. of Upstate New York and Robert J. of Wayne PA, and Ruth W. Whalen of Westwood, MA. Survived by sisters Elizabeth J. of Belmont, MA and Rosemary W. Crowley of Metuchen, NJ. Also survived by her brothers-in-law, Robert J. Whalen and James J. Crowley, her sister-in-law Ruth D. Whittaker, twelve nieces and nephews and nineteen grandnieces and nephews.

Associated with the Boston School Department for more than forty years, first as a teacher, and then as an administrator, serving many years as Associate Director of the Title One Program. In World War II served as a Naval Officer, remaining in the reserves for twenty years, retiring with the rank of commander. Grace Whittaker devoted her life to public and community service and remained courageous and uncomplaining through a long and debilitating illness. Visiting hours omitted.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday September 27, at 10:00 AM in St. Theresa Church WEST ROXBURY. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
