Rose (Aguiar) Harris age 80 of New Bedford passed on Thursday, January 21, 2010 in St. Luke’s Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Jimmie Harris.
She was born in New Bedford the daughter of the late Frank P. and Mary Jo (Paiva) Aguiar and has been a lifelong New Bedford resident. Mrs. Harris was employed at the Tabor Nursing Home as a Nurses Assistant for 21 years, she was a communicant of Our Lady of Assumption Church and a former communicant of St. Mary’s Church in New Bedford.
Mrs. Harris is survived by her daughter Kathleen M. Sellmann and her husband Richard of New Bedford, two grandchildren Haley Rose Sullivan and William “Will” S. Sullivan III; three sisters Hilda Lambert of South Dartmouth, Margaret Sheffield and Lee Terry both of New Bedford; one brother Robert Aguiar of Fairhaven, many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late David Aguiar, Mary Florio and Isabell Aguiar.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 8 am from the Saunders-Dwyer Funeral Home 495 Park St., New Bedford followed by her Funeral Mass at 9 am in Our lady of Assumption Church 47 South Sixth St., New Bedford. Visiting hours Monday from 4-7 pm. Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery at Bourne.
