Obituary

Walter J.Mazur, 86, of Bristol, formerly of Cooper Hill Road, Mapleville, died Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. He was the husband of the late Gabrielle C. (Michaud) Mazur.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Jacob and Nell Mazur. He lived with his son, Joseph, in Mapleville for thirty years. He had previously lived in Providence.

Mr. Mazur was a Jet Engine Mechanic at Quonset for 20 years before retiring. He was a WWII Army Air Corp Veteran serving as a B29 Flight Crewmember.

He was a loving father who had a heart of gold. He is survived by his children, Joseph T. of Mapleville, Steven P. of Barrington and Diane M. Paliotta of Providence and four grandchildren and his siblings: Jenny Luszoz and Charles and John Mazur all of Smithfield. He was the father of the late Walter E. Mazur and brother of the late Joseph and Mary Mazur and Sophie Cerroni.

Funeral Tuesday at 9am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Burial with military honors in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visitation Monday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donation to the Bristol Veteran’s Home, 480 Metacom Avenue, Bristol, RI 02809.
