Eleanor (Schonbom) Morgan, 92 years old, widow of the late Roy A. Morgan who died in 1998, died Thursday morning at Billerica Crossing following a lengthy illness.
Born in Lowell on June 21, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Axel W. and Elin (Hummel) Schonbom and received her education in the Lowell schools. Mrs. Morgan also was a graduate of Lowell Commercial College where she received an Associates Degree. She also attended training courses for aiding those with special education needs. She was a lifelong resident of Lowell until her move to Billerica Crossing five years ago.
Mrs. Morgan was employed as a Special Education Teacher at the Goodwill Rehabilitation Center. She retired in 1977. Earlier in life she was a teacher at the Highlands Morey School Nursery and Kindergarten. Mrs. Morgan was a member of the Middlesex Woman’s Club, the Goodwill Auxiliary, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Puritan Chapter #54. She attended The West Parish UCC Church in Andover.
She is survived by a daughter, RuthElyn Rivanis and her husband Patrick of Lowell; a son, Roy A. Morgan III and his wife Rose of North Carolina; her grandchildren, Erika Sanborne, Kristina Silva and her husband Eric, Charles Rivanis and his wife Erica, Jonathan Rivanis, Susan and Eric Morgan; her great grandchildren, Anthony and Sirena Rivanis, Christopher Silva and Erica and Brittany Morgan.
MORGAN- Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, January 23 from 2 until 4 pm at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 NESMITH STREET, LOWELL (Rte.38). Her Funeral Service will be held following the Calling Hours at 4 pm. Private Burial in Edson Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the VNA Hospice of Greater Lowell, 40 Church Street, Lowell, MA 01852. Arrangements are by the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, LOWELL, MA.
