LAWRENCE-Irene F. (Balabin) Batal, 80, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2010 at her family residence surrounded by her loving family.Born and educated in Lawrence she graduated from Lawrence High School.She had been a homemaker who took pride in caring and loving her family.She enjoyed cooking, playing bingo, and taking bus tours.The widow of the late George G. Batal, Irene is survived by her two children, son Kenneth P. Batal of Lawrence, daughter Kathleen Janelle of Haverhill; four grandchildren, Jason, Christopher, Gary and Derik; one great-granddaughter, Sophia; as well as many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Batal was predeceased by her siblings, John and Walter Balabin and Helen Smolak.
