Abington – Vernon Alden Pierce 75, a direct descendent of the Alden’s, died Saturday January 16 after a period of failing health. He was the beloved son of the late Vernon F. and Sylvia (Wright) Pierce.
Born in Brockton and raised in Abington he was a lifelong resident of Abington, remaining in the family home along with his late parents, the home his grandfather had built over 96 years ago.
He was a veteran of the US Navy having served during the Korean War from 1952-1954, and receiving the Navy Occupation Service Medal.
He was a self employed truck driver and loved to use his mechanical abilities working on his trucks.
He is survived by his loving sister Virginia (Pierce) Capparelli and her husband Peter of Sea Girt, NJ and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Russell Pierce a US Marine having served four years in the Pacific during WWII, and the late Betty Torres and Priscilla Pierce.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service to be held Thursday January 21 at 11 AM in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Abington.
