Obituary

WEBSTER – Joan M. (Lukasek) Sterczala, 72, formerly of Lower Gore Rd., died Monday, January 18, in Lanessa Extended Care Facility. Her husband of 38 years, Francis R. “Franny” Sterczala, died in 2003.

She leaves a daughter, Beth A. Boudreau and her husband Joey K. of Douglas; a son, Randy Sterczala of Webster; 4 grandchildren, Noah, Seth, Dale and Leah Boudreau; a sister, Dorothy Lukasek of Webster; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Barbara Lukasek.

She was born and raised in Webster, the daughter of Joseph A. and Josephine T. (Koziak) Lukasek and lived here all her life. She graduated from Bartlett High School in 1955 where she was a member of the National Honor Society and the Future Business Leaders of America. She then graduated from Salter Secretarial School in Worcester.

Mrs. Sterczala first worked at Hubbard Regional Hospital and for the gas and electric company. She was a bookkeeper for her husband’s business, Fran’s Getty and Auto Repair Co. for many years. She then worked at the Webster First Federal Credit Union before retiring in 2002.

She was a member of Saint Louis Church. She enjoyed long walks, knitting and doing needle work, playing cribbage and being a fan of the New England Patriots. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Friday, January 22, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street. Burial will be private. A calling period will be from 8:30 to 9:30 AM Friday, January 22, in the funeral home. Donations in her name may be made to Saint Anne’s Elementary School, 12 Day Street, PO Box 818, Webster, MA 01570-0818
