John A. DeAngelis, 90, of Roger Williams Drive, Greenville, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 16, 2010. He was the husband of the late Mary Ruth DeAngelis with whom he shared 66 years of marriage.
Born in Providence, he was the second eldest of Peter and Mary ( Turchetta ) DeAngelis. He was a WWII Army Veteran serving in the Pacific Theater with the 43rd Infantry Division. He was a well known home builder in both Johnston and Smithfield retiring at the age of 60 to devote the remainder of his life to his family, especially his grandsons. He enjoyed golf, tennis, winters in Florida, and was a life-long fan of the Red Sox.
He is survived by his son , Joseph and his wife Donna Neville DeAngelis of Cranston and Jamestown; his grandsons, Matthew P. DeAngelis of Greenville and Joseph R. and his wife Tammy Reina DeAngelis of Boston, MA, and his daughter-in-law Denise DeMarco of Cranston. He also leaves his sisters, Anne Zanni and Rose Lillian Fusco and a brother, Albert DeAngelis.
Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday at 11am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville, RI. Burial with military honors in Highland Park, Johnston. Visitation respectfully omitted.
