Frank J. Rochette, age 95, passed away on Friday, Jan. 15, 2010 at a local healthcare facility in Lowell after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Rita (Bastien) Rochette.
He was born in Lowell on January 21, 1914, a son of the late Thomas and Marie (Morin) Rochette. Frank was a lifelong resident of Lowell and a communicant of the former St. Jean Baptiste Parish and more recently, St. Patrick Parish. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII having served overseas in N. Africa, Italy, France and Germany.
He owned and operated Rochette's Diner on the corner of Moody and Race Street in Lowell. While serving customers with his family's baked beans recipe now known as "Lowell's Famous Beans" He later became a teller at Union National Bank where he retired in the early 1980's. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards with his family and friends. His greatest passion was spending time working at his lakehouse located in Tyngsboro.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Susan C. and Michel Bolduc of Dracut; a son, Roger T. Rochette of Lowell; two grandchildren, Phillip Francis and Jessica Lynn Bolduc of Dracut; his Godson and nephew, Francis Desruisseaux of Lowell; also many nieces and nephews . He was pre-deceased by nine brothers and sisters.
Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell, on Monday, Jan. 18 from 3 to 7pm. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Patrick Church, Lowell. Interment to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
