James A. “Jimmy” Del Bene, of Medford, died Thursday, January 14th at Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 66.
Mr. Del Bene was raised in Medford, the son of the late Bernadino and the late Catherine (Anastasia) Del Bene. Jimmy worked as a butcher, operating his family’s shop, Del Bene’s Meat Market on Salem St. in Boston’s North End. Jimmy was a great Boston Sports enthusuast and enjoyed the many recent championships of the Red Sox and Patriots. He enjoyed a life-time of summers in Hull in the company od his family and many friends.
He was a beloved husband of Adeline (Bevilacqua) Del Bene. He was a dear brother of Paula Turco and her husband Joe of Tewksbury, Anna Blonde and her husband Frank of Marshfield, the late Fred Del Bene and the late Millie Richard. He was a devoted son-in-law of Lois Bevilacqua and the late Charles Bevilacqua. He was a devoted brother-in law of Charles Bevilacqua, Susan Buckley, Anthony Bevilacqua and is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews.
His funeral was from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday, January 18th at 10:30 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family Monday morning 8:30 - 10:30. Interment private.
