Paul R. Haggerty, 69 years of Brockton January 14, 2010 in his home after a period of failing health. Born in Boston, the son of the late Daniel H. and Elizabeth A. (Spencer) Haggerty. Paul grew up in the Roxbury section of Boston and has been a resident of Brockton for the past 37 years. He enjoyed working for the Wonder Bread Company as a baker for 34 years and retired 13 years ago. In his retirement he enjoyed travel to many places, and fulfilled his dream of travel to Ireland. He was a happy, sober member of AA for the past 28 years and was a great power of example to his family as well as his many friends in the program. He was a proud grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife Jean M. (Petersen) of 47 years; his children Linda Cerci and her husband Patrick of E. Bridgewater, Christine Haggerty and her husband Marc Abbott of W. Bridgewater, Paul Haggerty Jr. of PA and David Haggerty and his wife Amy of Taunton; and his adored grandchildren Kelli, Devin, Colin and Paige; his siblings Eleanor Malloy of Boston, Joseph and his wife Rita of Norton, Deborah Lydon and her husband Francis of Plymouth, and the late Mary, Daniel, Patricia, Francis, Rita and Kathleen; his brothers-in-law Francis “Skip” Goffredo of Saugus and Ronald Caron of Weymouth. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St (Rte 123) Brockton Monday 5-8pm. Funeral from the funeral home Tuesday at 8am followed by a funeral mass in St. Ann Church West Bridgewater at 9am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery Brockton.
