Nancy Williams Bryant, 89, Clarksville, died Friday, January 15, 2010, at her residence. The funeral will be held at 1:30 pm Sunday at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 pm Saturday and from 12 pm until the hour of the service Sunday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, born in Clay County, TN, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edgar A. Williams. Her sisters who predeceased her include Marie Roberts, Elizabeth Wamble, and Martha Sue Hartley also of Clarksville. She was married to the late Robert G. Bryant of Clarksville. Mrs. Bryant's education included Clarksville High School, Falls Business College, and Milligan College. During WWII she served as one of the original staff members of the Pentagon, Arlington, VA. Later she worked in the bookkeeping and accounting fields. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Clarksville, including the Joy Sunday School Class, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Survivors include her children Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Bryant of Chester, VA; Ms. Carol Shippen and Dr. William Shippen of Clarksville; and Mr. David G. Bryant of Warrenton, Missouri; and grandchildren, Melissa Shippen Burrows, William D. Shippen III both of Nashville and Andrew Bryant of Chester, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Joy Sunday School Class and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
