John Hoyt Chitwood, 83, of Prattville Alabama, died Thursday, January 14 in Prattville, Alabama
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 17 at 3 P.M., from the Chapel Of Prattville Memorial in Prattville, Alabama. Interment will take place at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Ben Hill County on Monday, January 18, at 4 P.M., with Rev. Danny Lovett officiating.
Mr. Chitwood was born September 3, 1926 in Banks County, Georgia to the late John Robert and Winnie Estelle Barnwell Chitwood. He was a beloved husband, father and brother, who served his country proudly in the United States Army during WW II. He was former employee of Freeman's Feed and Seed in Fitzgerald and Knight's Auto Service in Prattville. He is a member of the Baptist Faith.
He is survived by his wife: Fleda Payne Chitwood; daughters: Bonnie Johnson and Brenda Cosby; sons: Larry Chitwood and Sammy Lee Chitwood; sisters: Mary Ruth Henderson, Ethel Mills, Evelyn Mannix and Katherine Davis; brother: Ralph Chitwood as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Chitwood.
