WORCESTER-Sylvia (Brown) Mincey, 79, of Worcester, departed this life on Wednesday, January 13th in her daughter’s home after a long illness. Her husband of 29 years, James C. Mincey, died in 1993. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Dawn Cosby and her husband Everette and Michael Mincey of Worcester, Vera Jackson of Syracuse, NY and James C. Mincey, Jr. of Providence, RI; her brother, George Brown of Trenton, NJ; eight grandchildren, Tenisha Mincey and Sylvia Pearson of Worcester, Jenny Williams of Providence, RI, Dondray and Tanya Jackson and Candace Williams of Syracuse, NY, Dondrae May of Marlborough and Justyce Williard of Danielson, CT; thirty great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. Two brothers, Marvin Marion Pitts and Alex “Poppa” Brown, Jr. predeceased her.
Mrs. Mincey was born in Savannah, GA on August 17, 1930, the daughter of Ben Frazier and Laura Brown. Sylvia was loved by many and will be missed by everyone whose life she touched.
The funeral is Tuesday, January 19th with a service at Noon in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. A calling hour will be held on Tuesday morning from 11:00 until the time of the service.
