Obituary

Hanson – Joseph DeMinico 77, a life long resident of Hanson died Wednesday January 13 following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband for 53 years of Germaine (Ehlert) DeMinico.

Born and raised in Hanson he was the son of the late Sabato and Fenicola (Delloiacono) DeMinico.

Joe had been employed by John Foster Lumber in Hanson and Research Grinding of Whitman, but he was most proud of his 32 years as a Hanson Firefighter, retiring as Deputy Chief in 1989.

He along with his wife Gerri, were members of and were instrumental in running the “Hanson Sparks” bowling league for many years. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and puttering around in his home and yard.

In addition to his wife Gerri he is survived by his loving daughters, Kathy Killion of Carver, Cheryl DeMinico of Plymouth, Susan Dana of Pembroke, and Laurie Campbell of Plymouth, his sister Melly Eaton of Hanson, and his brother Mario DeMinico of Whitman. He is also survived by his precious grandchildren Hillary and Erik Dana both of Pembroke and several nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by all.

His funeral service will be held Monday January 18 at 8:45 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, followed by a mass at 10 AM in St. Joseph the Worker Church, Hanson. Burial will be private. Visiting hours will be held Sunday January 17 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Donations in his name may be made to the South Shore Hospital 55 Fogg Road Weymouth, MA 02190 Attention: Cancer Center.
