Obituary

Richard W. Gauvreau, 73, of Londonderry, NH died January 12, 2010 at his home following recent surgery. Mr. Gauvreau was born in Woburn, MA on January 8, 1937, son of the late Alphonse and Josephine (McLaughlin) Gauvreau. He had resided in Londonderry for the past 30 years, formerly living in Derry, NH. He served with the US Air Force during the 1950’s. Mr. Gauvreau had been employed as a custodian for the Londonderry School System and as a mechanic for Betley Chevrolet in Derry. He enjoyed baking and was especially good at baking wedding cakes.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Bernice L. (Davis) Gauvreau of Londonderry, four children, Craig Huntley of Londonderry, and Kevin, Keith and Stephanie, all from a previous marriage. Also four stepchildren, Deborah Carleton of Northwood, NH, Donna Tebo, Christopher Huntley and Darlene Zimmerman all of Raymond, NH, 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one brother, Gene Gauvreau of Tennesee, two sisters, Estelle Browne of Florida and Rosalie Townsend of Maine, also many nieces and nephews. Mr. Gauvreau was known by his grandchildren as “Papa Moose”.
Calling hours were held on Friday January 15, 2010 from 4 - 6pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A funeral service was held at 6:00pm at the close of calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Heart Gifts Processing Center, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049.
