Obituary

Mr. George H. Duarte, of Taunton, died Monday, January 11 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Henrietta K. (Menard) Duarte. He was
born 80 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Frank and Philomena (Frates) Duarte. He was educated in Taunton and was a lifelong city resident. Prior to his retirement, he
had been employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Taunton for 27 years. He had previously been a self-employed barber, operating the former Duarte’s Barber Shop on Winthrop Street in Taunton for many years. Mr. Duarte was a U.S. Army veteran, having served
during the Korean War. He was a member of the John F. Parker Municipal Golf Course in Taunton, and was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 8049 in Norton, and the Taunton Lodge of Elks. He enjoyed playing golf, woodworking, fishing and attending and volunteering at the Polish Picnic at Holy Rosary Church. He was a communicant of the Holy Rosary Church.

Catherine Belanger and her husband, Norman of Taunton
2 grandchildren: Nicholas Duarte of Colorado
Holly Santos and her husband, Ryan of East Taunton
several nieces and nephews
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Holy Rosary Church, 80 Bay Street, on Thursday, January 14 at 9:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours are respectfully omitted. Committal Services will be held on Friday, January 15 at the V.A. National Cemetery, Bourne, at 1:00 P.M. The procession will leave from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, Taunton, on Friday at 11:45 A.M. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care, 275 Grove St., Suite 3-100, Newton, Ma., 02466, or to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tn., 38105-1942.
