Obituary

Milton “Milt” Smith, 78, of Ocilla, Georgia died Thursday, September 18, 2003 at his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Sunday, September 21, 2003, at Riverbend Cemetery with Elder Jerry Barrs officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Saturday.

Mr. Smith was born July 8, 1925, in Coffee County, Georgia to the late Will C. Smith and Avie Hutto Smith. Mr. Smith had lived in Irwin County most of her life. He was former owner/operator of Smith Service Station in Ocilla and a retired Carpenter. Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Army during World War II, in the European Theatre and was awarded the Purple Heart. He attended Riverbend Baptist Church in Irwin County and was a former member of the Carpenter’s Union in Jacksonville, Florida. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Louise McNatt Smith, a granddaughter, and 1 sister.

Mr. Smith is survived by two sons: Troy & Pat Smith of Irwinville and Tommy & Hazel Smith of Ocilla; two brothers: Felder Smith of Callahan, Florida and W.C. Smith of St. Petersburg. Florida; three sisters: Vera Walsh of Ocilla, Annette Holton of Lake City, Florida, and Zola Hardy of Tallapoosa, Georgia; 4 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Paulk Funeral Home, Ocilla, Georgia, is in charge of arrangements.
