Obituary

Salvatore Cassata, age 76, of Burlington formerly of Arlington, passed away January 10th, at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Josephine (Tringale) and together they shared 47 years of marriage. Born in Sicily he was the son of the late Gaetano and Providenza (Corso) Cassata.

Mr. Cassata was a retired carpenter and cabinetmaker. Mostly devoted to his loving family, he enjoyed gardening, boating and salt-water fishing. He was a former member of the Burlington Sons of Italy lodge 2223.

In addition to his beloved wife, Mr. Cassata is survived by his devoted children, Salvatore cassata Jr. of Burlington, Theresa Cohen and her husband Michael of Holden, Gaetano Cassata and his wife Patricia of Everett, Ginamarie Cassata of Atlanta, GA, Michael Cassata Sr. and his wife Melissa of West Boylston. He was the loving grandfather of Jystina, Jaclyn, Joseph, Kaitlyn, Michael Jr., and Marc Cassata, Matthew and Ethan Cohen. He is also survived by his brother, Anthony Cassata and his wife Letiza of Arlington.

A funeral mass was celebrated in St. Margaret Church, 109 Winn St., Burlington, on Saturday, January 16th, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 374 Main St. WILMINGTON, were held on Friday, January 15th, from 4 thru 8. Services concluded with burial at Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions s may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to Hallmark Health Home Care, 178 Savin St., Malden, MA 02148.
