Robert F. Barrett, 89 of Walpole died January 10 in the Coyne Healthcare Center in Rockland. He was the husband of Adeline (Mariani) Barrett.
Born in Trenton, New Jersey, June 8, 1920 the son of the late Franklin and Beatrice (Simmons) Barrett, Mr. Barrett was raised in New Jersey and Nova Scotia and had lived in Walpole since 1943.
Mr. Barrett had been a machinist for the Gill Manufacturing Company in Stoughton for 50 years before retiring.
Mr. Barrett had been active in Walpole civic affairs. He served for many years on the Sewer and Water Commission and had been a Representative Town Meeting Member for many years as well.
Mr. Barrett had been an umpire in Walpole Little League. He had enjoyed taking his boat out in Marshfield, deer hunting in Canada and dancing.
In addition to his wife, he is also survive by his children, Robert J. Barrett and his wife Deborah of Marshfield, Stephen J. Barrett and his wife Karen of Elon, North Carolina, Elizabeth Barrett Brown and her fiance Guy Thompson of Whitman and Daniel J. Barrett and his fiance Gail Gordon of Lynn.
He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, January 16 from the Ginley Funeral Home, 892 Main St. in Walpole at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:00.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in South Walpole.
Visiting hours will be on Friday from 5-8 p.m.
