Mr. Edward J. Lacey, of Center Ossipee, NH, formerly of Wilmington, passed away January 10th at the Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover, NH surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Jean (Domenicis) and together they shared 44 years of marriage.
Born in Medford he was the son of the late William M. and Minnie (Penny) Lacey.
Edward was born and raised in Medford and was a graduated of Medford High School. He continued his education at Northeastern University where he graduated from in 1965 with a degree in civil engineering. In 1975 Ed and his wife settled in Wilmington where they raised their family and continued to live for thirty years before moving to New Hampshire just three years ago.
Edward worked for over thirty years at the Smithsonian Astro Physical Observatory in Cambridge where he was an Information Systems Specialist. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and snowmobiling. He also enjoyed traveling throughout his life and especially enjoyed traveling all over the United States and to different islands in the Carribean. In more recent years, he and his wife loved spending the winter months in Florida.
In addition to his late parents, Edward is predeceased by his son, the late Michael Lacey, and brothers, the late Malcolm and Rolland Lacey. He is survived by his beloved wife Jean (Domenicis) Lacey. He was the devoted father of Joseph Lacey and his wife Brenda of Ayer, and Robin Lacey of Ayer. He was the loving grandfather of Daniel Metcalfe, Jessica and Skylar Lacey. He is also survived by his sisters, Pearl Miller of Gilford, NH, Isabelle Zografos of Seabring, FL, Ella Buoncore of Burlington, and one brother, Roger Lacey of Yankeetown, FL
Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Thursday, January 14th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave, Wilmington, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Wednesday from 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
