Grovetown- Iris Othell Groover Ryals, age 74, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2010 at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. She was a native of Tattnall County living in Blackshear for 30 years before moving to Grovetown. She was a Christian by faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years Hubert Faligan Ryals.
Surviving are four children: Hubert Ryals, Jr. and wife Catherine of Waycross, Keith Ryals of Grovetown, Melinda Ryals and Donnie Simmons of Cook, County, and Hubert “Gator” Ryals of Augusta; four grandchildren: Danielle E. Lucas of Blackshear, Christopher M. Ryals of Waycross, Zachery E. Ryals of Waycross and Kimberly O. Thornton of Blackshear; three great-grandchildren: Christian DuPont, Thomas Lucas and Jacey Ryals; sister: Vernell and husband Hugh Strickland and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 11 am from the James R. Gordon Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Larry Strickland officiating.
Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday beginning at 9 am at the funeral home.
