Maria (Guidotti) Matterazzo, a long-time resident of Medford, died Saturday, January 9th at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford. She was 98 years old. Maria lived most of her life in Medford except for a few years when her family returned to Italy. Maria was a devoted wife mother and dear friend to all her neighbors. She was devoted to her grandchildren and to the next two generations of her large family. For many years she did fine finish work at the Aljer Shoe Company in Everett. She was also well known by many at Stop and Shop in Medford where she worked in her retirement.
She was a beloved wife to the late Michael Matterazzo. She was a devoted mother to Eugene “Gene” Matterazzo and his wife Betty of Framingham, Norma Giacobbe and her husband Carmine of Malden, the late John J. Matterazzo and Emily Matterazzo. She was a loving grandmother to Gene Matterazzo, Jr. of Framingham, Jane Jenkins of Hudson, Paul Matterazzo of Ashland, Nancy Simoes of Hudson, Linda Donahue of Hawaii, Diane Greenwood of Chelmsford and Joanne Matterazzo of Pelham, NH. Maria is also survived by 13 loving great grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday, January 13th at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 3 - 7. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Maria's name to the charity of One's choice.
