William F. McAuley Jr. 75 of Franklin, died peacefully at his home on Saturday January 9, 2010 following a brief illness.
Born in Boston, March 9, 1934 a son of the late William F. McAuley Sr. and Mary V. (Acres) McAuley, he formerly lived in South Boston and Roslindale until moving to Franklin in 1989.
He was raised and educated in Boston, and also attended Northeastern University. For more than 52 years, he worked for the MBTA and AMTRAK, beginning as a laborer, he worked his way up to construction engineer.
A proud member of the United States Navy, he served in the “Seabees” during the Korean War. He also served in the naval reserve during the Viet Nam War.
He was a member of the United States Navy Fleet Reserve Association, the Boston Post #462 American Legion, a member at large of Boston Post #15022 Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was a daily communicant of St. Jude’s Church in Norfolk.
He was devoted to his children and his granddaughter Bria P. McAuley.
Surviving are his son Sean W. McAuley and his wife Kimberly of Walpole, a daughter Katharine M. McAuley of Franklin, three brothers Robertr G. McAuley of Brockton, Donald J. McAuley of Foxboro, John T. McAuley of East Bridgewater, three sisters Joan E. Doherty of Uncasville Ct., Judith A. DiMarino of Franklin, Marie P. Martin of Attleboro, his granddaughter Bria P. McAuley, and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral with military honors Wednesday January 13th, at 8:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. with a funeral Mass in St. Jude Church 86 Main St. Norfolk, MA 02056 at 9AM.
Interment will follow at the family lot in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
