Obituary

Worcester- Nancy L. (Wells) Galvin, 68, of 178 Vernon Street, died Friday, Sept. 19, at home.

She leaves her husband of 48 years, James T. Galvin Sr.; a son, James T. Galvin Jr. of Worcester; a brother, Lewis E. Wells III of Worcester; several nieces and a nephew. She was born in Ware, daughter of Lewis Wells Jr. and Althea (Olson) Wells and lived here for many years. She graduated from Barre High School.

Mrs. Galvin was a teachers aide at Millbury Street School and other Worcester schools for 20 years, retiring in 1997. She served in the U.S. Navy in Newport.

She was a member of Ascension Parish and the Massachusetts Police Associaton. She was the first woman police officer in the town of Barre.

The funeral will be held Monday, Sept. 22, from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Ascension Church, 40 Vernon Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, in the funeral home.
