Obituary

Wilma U. Herring, 93, of Ravenel, wife of the late William W. Herring died January 8, 2010 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2010 at 1 o’clock at Memorial Baptist Church, 5948 Martin Street, Ravenel. Friends and family may call this evening from 6 until 8 o’clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, 303 South Main Street, Summerville. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Wilma was born August 24, 1916 in Pratteville, Alabama, daughter of the late William Ussery and Elizabeth Norton Ussery. She graduated from Pratteville High School in Alabama. She was Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Daughters of the Nile, and The Order of the Ameranth. She worked for the US Postal Service as the assistant Post Master. She was also a bookkeeper for the service stations her and husband owned and operated. She was a longtime active member of Memorial Baptist Church in Ravenel.

Surviving are: 9 Grandchildren: James Martin Herring, Jeanie Herring Wilson, Joan Cantor, Jon Willis Herring, Joni Anderson, Terry Knodel, Jimmy Herring, Vicky Johnson, and Sera English Torres; 12 Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband William W. Herring; 2 Sons: William A. Herring and James M. Herring; Grandson: William A. “Joe” Herring; Brother: Otis Ussery; Sister: Eloise Ussery.
