Louis (“Lou”) John Kaminski, age 78, of Assonet, MA passed away peacefully on Jan. 6, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Leonora (Gomes) Kaminski for 59 years. Born in Somerset, MA, the son of the late Louis C. and the late Stanislawa A. Kaminski, Lou was the Owner & Operator of Bridge Auto Body Shop in Assonet, formerly of Fall River, MA until his retirement. He was a communicant of St. Bernard Parish in Assonet.
Lou enjoyed serving his community, fishing, collecting Wedgwood and the beauty of nature through many of his hobbies and interests and, most importantly, treasured family time spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lou served as President & Treasurer of the Freetown Lions Club, receiving the Melvin Jones Fellow Award for Dedicated Humanitarian Services by the Lions International Foundation and was a member of the Freetown Historical Society and the former Fall River Linesiders Bass Fishing Club.
Besides his wife of Assonet, he is survived and lovingly remembered by his 8 children: Louis J. Kaminski, Jr., and his wife Kathy, of Amesbury, MA, Linda Marley, and her husband Michael, of Westport, MA, Bruce Kaminski, and his wife Barbara, of Chatham, MA, Mark S. Kaminski of New York, David A. Kaminski, and his wife Lisa, of Assonet, MA, April M. Dawson, and her husband Howard, of Florida, Lisa Kaminski of Fall River, MA and James Kaminski of Arizona; 5 Siblings: Sylvester L. Kaminski of Kentucky, King A. Kaminski of California, Stephen Kaminski of Seekonk, MA, Krystyna Barlow of Fall River, MA and Janice Vaillancourt of Rhode Island; 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Hillary C., Henry, John and Eugenia Kaminski.
