Richard T. "Sarge" Molleo, Jr., 60, of New Bedford died Wednesday January 6, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Linda G. (Kevorkian) Molleo.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Mary M. (Sanderson) Molleo Sherman and Richard T. Molleo Sr., he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
Mr. Molleo was formerly employed as a chemical processor at the Polaroid Corporation.
Mr. Molleo was an active member and past president of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, and had also served as co-chairman of the Monument Committee. He was very proud of his Irish heritage.
He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife; two brothers, Peter Molleo and his wife LouAnn of New Bedford and Timothy Molleo and his wife Sharon of Arizona; a sister, Cathryn Howland and her husband Rick of New Bedford; his mother-in-law, Alice Kevorkian of Reading; his brother-in-law, Robert Kevorkian and his wife Lorraine of Reading; his nieces and nephews, Stephanie, Jason, Derek, Alexander, Timothy, and Keith Molleo and his wife Marla, Tammy Cote and her husband Paul, Kelly Bettencourt and her husband Robert, Shaun Howland, Jeffrey Kevorkian and his wife Stacey, Cynthia Canavan and her husband Michael, and Eric Kevorkian and his wife Shari; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was the stepson of the late Dennis Sherman.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 AM in Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
