P. Ronald Droukas, 67 years, of Brockton died Tuesday January 5, 2010 after a lengthy illness. He was the loving husband of Janet L (Locke) Droukas. Ron was born and raised in Brockton a son of Ann (Hantis) Droukas of Brockton and the late Peter Droukas. He was a 1960 graduate of Brockton High and received a degree in electrical engineering from Tufts University in 1964. Ron was a member of the naval ROTC in college and served with the US Navy during the Cuban Crisis and the Viet Nam Era.
Ron was the retired owner of Cape Cod Needleworks in Brockton and previous worked in the family businesses Droukas Cut Sole and Drew Tanning both in Brockton. In his free time he enjoyed computer technology, salt water boating and fishing, reading, bowling and was a New England sports fan. Ron was also a Brockton community advocate.
In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by his four sons Scott Droukas and his wife Valerie of Brookfield, Conn; Todd Droukas and his fiancée Patricia Messner of Brockton; Eric Droukas and his wife Jennifer of Stoneham, Mass and Brian Droukas and his wife Kristen Hogan of Raynham. He was the grandfather of Niko, Zakary, Jullia, Dianna, Alexandra and Skylar. He also leaves a sister Paulette Galvin and her husband John of Port Washington, Long Island, New York; a brother Roger Droukas and his wife Patricia of St. Augustine, Florida and several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Friday at 11 am. Visitation will be prior to the service 9:30 -11 am. Burial with military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 12:45 pm.
