HUTCHINSON,Alice (Hodge), 89, of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at the Eastern Star Home.
Alice, a native of Tennessee, and her late husband, John William “Bill” Hutchinson, operated the Western Auto Store in Bardstown, KY. They belonged to the Bardstown Baptist Church, where they developed a clown ministry. Alice and Bill moved to Louisville in 1989, where they helped oversee the daily operations at Owen Funeral Home. After Bill’s death, Alice continued to work for the funeral home, devoting over 20 years of service to the business. Alice enjoyed music, especially the Lawrence Welk stars and Steve Cooper. She was a member of the Fairmount Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Terry Lewis (Tommy), Julie Payne (Warren), Pamela Owen (David), and Amy Zucker (Jim); grandchildren, Missy Powers (Brad), Alan Lewis (Stephanie), Rachel Hood, and Jakob and Joseph Zucker; great-grandchildren, Katie and Luke Powers, and Tanner, Tommy and Tyler Lewis; and brother, Gordon Hodge, and sister, Mattie Galyon.
Alice’s service will be 11am Saturday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday 12pm-9pm at the funeral home.
