Worcester—Carl E. Lindberg, 93, formerly of Shrewsbury and Tatnuck Park, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at St. Mary Healthcare Center. He leaves his wife of 70 years, Elvira E. (Johnson) Lindberg. He also leaves a sister, Anna Toupin of Princeton, and many nieces and nephews and their families. Carl was born in Worcester, son of Jacob and Olga (Ericsson) Lindberg. He graduated from Commerce High. Carl was a WWII Army veteran—a Sergeant in the 34th Infantry Regiment. He earned the Combat Infantry Badge. He worked at Johnson Wire for 34 years, Sawyer Lumber Co. for 11 years, and Caldor’s for 9 years. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, Shrewsbury. He was an avid fisherman.
Funeral services will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Friday, January 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. A calling hour will be held at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, 34 Prospect Street, Shrewsbury MA 01545.
