Obituary

Elton "Tiggie" Franklin Bumpus, lifelong resident of Plymouth, passed away on December 31st at the age of 81. Beloved husband of the late Barbara (Kleindienst), he is survived by his daughter Carol Osgood and her husband, Stephen, of Rochester, NH, as well as 2 granddaughters, 1 grandson, 4 nieces and a nephew. The son of the late Andrew Bumpus and Dorothy (Leonard) Bumpus, Elton was predeceased by his brother, Clifton Bumpus. He built his home on Herring Pond Road, where he resided for 52 years. Elton joined the U.S Army in 1946 and served during WWII. He had worked for the Commonwealth of Mass. Department of Public Works for 40 years. After retiring, he drove a school bus for the town of Plymouth. A memorial mass will be held on Friday, January 8th at St. Bonaventure’s church at 10 AM. There are no visiting hours and burial is private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army (8 Carver St. Plymouth, MA 02360) or St. Jude's Children's Hospital (501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105).
