Arthur L. Churchill 80 of Southbridge formerly of Franklin died January 4 in Harrington Memorial Hospital in Southbridge; he was the husband of Claire (Lemieux) Churchill.
Born in Dorchester, June 26, 1929 the son of the late George and Louise (Mills) Churchill, Mr. Churchill was raised in Dorchester and had lived in Canton before moving to Franklin where he lived for 41 years prior to coming to Southbridge 8 years ago.
Mr. Churchill was a graduate of Boston English High School.
Mr. Churchill had been an electronics technician for the Thermal Electronics Corporation for many years before retiring.
Mr. Churchill served in the Army during the late 1950’s, he enjoyed reading.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Arthur Jr. of Gardner, Maine, Thomas and John, both of Plainville, Mark of Norton, Maureen Dowdey of Uxbridge, Joan Hale of Rutland, Vermont, Matthew Tetreault of Sterling, Virginia and Gene Tetreault of Sutton.
He was the father of the late Sandy Doobovsky.
He is also survived by his brother Robert Churchill of Uxbridge and sister Maryann Barteau of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
He was the brother of the late George, Frank and Chuck Churchill and Patricia Cole.
Mr. Churchill is also survived by 17 grandchildren 3 great-granddaughters and 1 great-grandson.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, January 9 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin at 9:15 followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 6-8 p.m.
