Louise Lawton Sloan, 86, of Charleston, widow of William H. Sloan died peacefully Sunday, January 3, 2010 at her home in Charleston.
A memorial service will be held 11 o’clock Thursday, January 7, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1695 Wallenberg Blvd., Charleston, SC 29407. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 10 o’clock until the hour of service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Road, Suite 504, North Charleston, SC 29406.
Mrs. Sloan was born April 21, 1923 in Charleston, daughter of the late Thomas Joseph and Nora Mary O’Connor Lawton. She was a graduate of Bishop England High School, Class of 1939. She was past president of the Women’s Guild of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She retired as a bookkeeper with McKinney Reese McAlister Food Brokerage.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking and crocheting. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are: two daughters and two sons: Louise S. Denney of LaGrange, Georgia, William H. Sloan of Jacksonville, Florida, Ileen S. Grange of Cottageville and Stephen L. Sloan of Holden, Maine, twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
