Raymond Irving Lambert, 87, of Methuen, died Sunday January 3, 2009 at the Salemhaven Nursing Center in Salem, NH.
Raymond was born, raised and educated in Methuen. He was employed at the former Wood Mill in Lawrence for 12 years and then at Raytheon in Andover for 34 years prior to his retirement. Raymond was a member of the New Hope Methodist Church, formerly St. George’s. Following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, Ray was a talented musician in brass instruments. He also enjoyed photography in his free time. He was a quiet family man and he will be dearly missed by those that knew him.
Raymond is predeceased by his wife, Ruth G. (Siegel) Lambert and two brothers, Henry A. and John E. Lambert. He leaves his children, Ruth Ann Tremblay and her husband Charles of Atkinson, NH, Shirley Winward and her husband Albert of Methuen and Carol Swift and her husband John of Londonderry, NH, sisters-in-law, Dorothy Lambert of Auburndale, MA, Betty Templeton of Lafayette, CA and Edith Gath of Tewksbury, MA, 6 grandchildren, Christine Dearborn and her husband Steve, Teri Greenleaf and her husband Joseph, Jason Swift, Justin Winward, Tegan Swift and Rachel Winward and 3 great-grandchildren, Emily Greenleaf, Meagan Dearborn and Jake Greenleaf and several nieces and nephews. Raymond’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Salemhaven Skilled Care Unit for their exceptional and loving care during Raymond’s stay. Their kindness and compassion toward Raymond and his family will never be forgotten.
Friends are invited to call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday January 6, 2009 at the Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
