Elliott Rodman "Sam" Kerr, 75, of East Freetown died Thursday December 31, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Doris J. (England) Kerr; they had been married for 51 years.
Born in Acushnet, the son of the late Louis Rodman Kerr and Bertha Elizabeth (Brownell) Kerr, he lived in Freetown for most of his life.
Mr. Kerr was formerly employed as a heavy equipment operator, retiring from the Tilcon Corporation in 1997. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 4 for 49 years, and Local 478 for five years.
An avid outdoorsman, he loved spending summers on the lake in Maine. He was a longtime member of the High Hill Fox and Coon Club.
Survivors include his wife; four children, Judy Koumanelis and her husband Alex of Mystic, CT, Michael Kerr and his wife Tracy of Lakeville, ME, Daniel Kerr of Springfield, ME, and Elizabeth Brugger and her husband David of Maine; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
