Visitation will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints,547 Manley Street, W. Bridgewater, Friday 10-11 am. Funeral Service to follow at 11 am. Obituary
Mr. West died Monday at his home after a brief illness. Born in New Bedford, MA, son of the late Harold L. and Mabel R. (Gifford) West. Raised in Brockton, attended Brockton schools. He served in the US Navy in 1957, and 20 years later he served in the US Army. He had been a stamp and coin collector for over 55 years. He had been the Proprietor of Charlie’s Stamp Shop in Brockton for six years. Mr. West had been employed by the City of Brockton for 20 years, retiring from the Highway Dept. He had previously been employed by ORO Cattle Company in Prescott, AZ for two years. After his retirement from the city, he was employed by Franklin Sports and Universal Products, he had also been employed as a home health Aide. Former member of Brockton VFW Marching Band and was a Brockton area military Bugler and also a member of Brockton Historic District Commission.
Survived by his wife of 29 years, Olive E. (Benton) West, a son Charles H. West, Jr. of Concord, NH and a daughter Anne M. West of Partyville, WI., two stepsons, Stephen F. Ventresca of Brockton and Baldo P. Ventresca of Sandwich, 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, a sister Harriette E. West Vastine of Spring Valley AZ and a brother James L. West of Mayer, AZ.
