New Bedford- Evelyn Lopes age 92, died Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Brandon Woods of New Bedford. Evelyn was the beloved wife of the late John S. Lopes. She was the mother of the late James Robert Lopes. Evelyn was the sister of the late John R. Gonsalves, Antone R. Gonsalves, Alfred R. Gonsalves, William R. Gonsalves and Emily Oliveira. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Mrs. Lopes was the daughter of the late Antone and Emilia (Roderiques) Gonsalves. Evelyn was born in New Bedford and was a life long resident. She was employed in the textile industry. Evelyn was a volunteer at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth for many years. She enjoyed going to the buttonwood senior center, making hand crafted items and working in her flower garden.
Mrs. Lopes Funeral Service will Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. New Bedford, her visiting hours will be from 11:00 – 1:00 on Tuesday, Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery.
