Obituary

George W. Smith, 76, of Rehoboth died December 26 , 2009.
He was born in Haharia GA the son of the late Corrine Jones and had lived in Rehoboth since 1963. He was the husband of Pauline M. (Deschene) Smith. He served honorably for 20 years in the U.S. Navy, during the Korean Conflict, Cuban Blockade, and the Vietnam War. George loved the outdoors, teaching his children and grandchildren to fish and swim. He especially loved spending time with family. He served as a special policeman for the Rehoboth Police Dept, was a volunteer for Rehoboth Fire Dept North Station and was a master electrician. He was a member of the American Legion Post 302, V.F.W. Post 115, and the Disabled American Veterans Post 57. He had been employed as an electrical clerk at Home Depot. Survivors include his wife, a son: David J. Smith of Rehoboth, 3 daughters, Sharon L. Hayden of Warren, RI, Carol L. Alves of Rehoboth, Donna A. Nichols of Londonderry, NH, 2 Loving Sons-in-Law and 1 Daughter-in Law, 2 Sisters-in-Law; Bernadette Carignan and Lorraine Miller, a cousin Marie Smith of McAlpin FL, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Private Services are at the request of the family.
