Sister Pauline Louise Boivin, SUSC (Edna Marie Boivin) died on December 31 at the Catholic Memorial Home, Fall River, Ma., at the age of 90. A native of Taunton, Ma.,
Sister Pauline Louise was the daughter of the late Euclide and Mathilda (Madore) Boivin. In addition to her Holy Union Sisters, her brother Reverend Louis Boivin and sisters
Maria Donnelly and Rita Bedard and several nieces and nephews survive her. She was predeceased by her sisters Sister Gabrielle Boivin SSJ, Sister Anna Imelda SUSC, Sister
Lucille Therese, SUSC, Ida Boivin, Alma Pelletier, and brothers Joseph and Euclide Boivin.
Sister Pauline Louise graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Taunton, Ma. She entered the Holy Union Sisters in Fall River, Ma. on September 8, 1940 and professed her final vows July 26, 1948. She studied at the Sacred Heart School of Education, Fall River, Sacred Heart Teacher Training School, Groton, and received her B.S. degree in Education from Catholic Teacher’s College, Providence, R.I. She studied at Newton
College of Liturgical Music and participated in professional courses in math and science.
Sister Pauline Louise’s teaching career in elementary and secondary grades spanned almost forty years. She taught in parish schools in Massachusetts and Rhode Island and
in the home missions in Alabama. She taught French at Notre Dame High School, Cambridge, and St. John the Baptist High School, Pawtucket, R.I. When she retired from teaching in 1981, she became a secretary for the religious education program at Sacred
Heart Parish, North Attleboro. She served as sacristan at St. Mark’s Parish, Attleboro and secretary at St. Mary Parish, North Attleboro from 1982 – 2000. She joined the Holy
Union retirement community at The Landmark, Fall River in 2000 and moved to the Catholic Memorial Home, Fall River in 2005, where she remained until her death.
The wake will be held on Monday, January 4, from 9:30 to 10:15 A.M., with a Vigil Service at 10:15 A.M. at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 249 Whittenton Street, Taunton.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. in St. Jude the Apostle Church. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Francis Cemetery, Taunton. Relatives and
