ROCKPORT: Miss Virginia Stevens, 91, died early December 29, 2009 at the Addison Gilbert Hospital.
Born in Springfield on April 15, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Arthur W. and Margaret (Gilchrist) Stevens.
Miss Stevens was employed as a guide at the Beauport Sleeper-McCann House Museum for many years.
A talented artist, whose medium was watercolors; she was a longtime member of the Rockport Art Association.
Though her means were limited, she was very generous in her support of the Republican Party and of numerous organizations; particularly those pertaining to animal rights.
She leaves behind many dear friends at Den-Mar Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as well as Linda McDonald and her family.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 15th in the Trinity Congregational Church at 4 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
