Billy Barrineau, 88, of Fitzgerald, died Wednesday, December 30 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Sunday, January 3, 2010 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald with Rev. Robert Couey officiating. Interment will follow in Alapaha Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Saturday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Barrineau was born July 22, 1921 in Irwin County to the late Charles R. and Millie Fletcher Barrineau. He retired from Killian & Black in Buffalo, NY before moving back to Fitzgerald in 1984. Mr. Barrineau was a retired truck driver and a former employee of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Niagra Falls. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Barrineau attended First Presbyterian Church in Fitzgerald.
He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Susan Barrineau and Pat Barrineau, both of Fitzgerald and Diane & Tom Quirk of Liverpool, NY; son and daughter-in-law, Jim & Christina Barrineau of Jamaica, NY; 5 grandchildren; sisters, Martha Boggus of Fitzgerald and Margaret Scott of Augusta; brothers and sisters-in-law, Pete & Jane Barrineau of Douglas, Emory Barrineau of Tallahassee, FL, Raymond & Vivian Barrineau of Augusta and Edwin & Margie Barrineau of Jacksonville, FL as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Velma Coppock Barrineau, 3 sisters, Elizabeth Singletary, Hazel Yancey and Jewell Aspinwall and a brother, Cecil Barrineau.
