Obituary

KINGSTON, NH: James R. Lane, 65, formerly of Gloucester, died unexpectedly in Boston on December 24, 2009.
Born in Gloucester on August 18, 1944, he was the son of Carmella “Peg” Lane Rich of Magnolia and the late James O. Lane. He was a graduate of the Gloucester High School class of 1964.
Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served from 1964 to 1968 and at one point was stationed at Ramstein A.F.B. in Germany. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant.
He had worked for many years at the former B.F. Goodrich. He later became a contractor, having built homes primarily in Southern New Hampshire. Most recently, he was employed as an excavator with Feeney Brothers Excavation.
Jim had many loves in his life, including his home, the Jagged Diamond Ranch, his motorcycle, horses and dogs and spending time on the ocean. He was a generous person, who spent all his spare time helping others.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Lisa J. Lane of Salem, his son and daughter-in-law, Jody and Tricia Lane of Merrimac, two grandchildren, Travis James Lane and Caitlyn Ruby Lane, his brothers, George, husband of Marie Lane of FL, Harry, husband of Esther of ME and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his fiancée, Geraldine Orlando, his twin sisters, Margaret “Sis” Lane and Eleanor Lane, and brothers, James, Philip, Artie, Howie and Herman Lane.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday afternoon in the Beechbrook Cemetery at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Belle Grace Farm, c/o Cindy Rice, 14 Olde Rd., Danville, NH 03819.
