Manchester– Hector D. Richer, 91, died December 28, 2009 at Catholic Medical Center following a brief illness
He was born in Manchester on September 29, 1918, the son Edouard and Evangeline (Boisvert) Richer. He had been a lifelong resident of Manchester.
He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army.
Prior to his retirement he was a head carpenter for the Manchester Housing Authority.
He was a parishioner of the Parish of the Transfiguration.
He held membership in the Catholic War Veterans Post 1624, Precious Blood League of 1000 men, American Legion Post 79, the Rimmon Club, William B. Cashin Senior Activity Center and was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus, Notre Dame Council.
He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Marie– Jeanne (Dionne) Richer in 1999.
In His Life: He leaves 4 daughters, Mrs. Armand (Lucille) Forest, Mrs. Ronald (Claire) St. Cyr, Mrs. Alfred (Anita) Valley, Mrs. Roger (Doris) Tousignant all of Manchester, 2 sons, Raymond Richer and his wife Evelyn of Cabot VT. ,and Marc Richer of Manchester, 19 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, one sister, Sister Germaine Richer, MSOA of Winooski VT. He was predeceased by 6 brothers and sisters, Marguerite Tellier, Emile Richer, Helene Dionne, Alfred Richer, Rev. Maurice Richer, and Sister Irene Richer.
Services: Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 PM at J. N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 1 PM in the Parish of the Transfiguration, corner of Kelley and Alsace Sts. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
