Agostinho M. "Gus" Cosme, Jr., 88, of New Bedford died December 28, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Agostinho M. and Marianna (Sylvia) Cosme, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was formerly employed by Zayre's Department Store until retirement.
Mr. Cosme served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was was the recipient of the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon with 3 Battle Stars and the Korean Conflict Medal with 5 Battle Stars.
Survivors include 2 nieces, Jauna Souza of Dartmouth and Erica Trahan of New Bedford and her children, Eliana and Scott.
He was the brother of the late Inez Souza.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Wednesday, December 30th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday, December 29th from 4-7 PM.
