Ellen Finney Booth, much loved mother, grandmother, family member, friend, teacher and music camp administrator, passed away December 28th at age 85.
Ellen and her late husband Arthur Booth made the education and musical enrichment of young people the centerpiece of their careers, both as directors of New England Music Camp and Northeast Music Camp and as teachers at Fitch Senior High School. Ellen also taught at Norwich Free Academy.
Ellen grew up in the Mystic area and lived in Groton much of her adult life. She was a member of Noank Baptist Church for over 50 years.
She will be greatly missed by her daughters Cynthia Booth of Norwich and Nancy Paradee of Cumberland, RI, her two grandchildren Kathryn Paradee and Brian Paradee and her brother-in-law Robert Booth of Lewiston, ME, as well as by her dear friends and those she has touched through camps and teaching and church. Her sense of humor endeared her to those who cared for her during her last years, and the family extends much gratitude to them.
A Memorial Service will be held at Noank Baptist Church, Saturday, January 16 at 11:00am with the Rev. Paul Hayes, Pastor, officiating. Private burial will precede at Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic.
