WORCESTER-Evanthia (Efthimiou) Koutoulas, 74, of Worcester, died Sunday, December 27th after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home. Her husband of 48 years, Jason D. Koutoulas died in 2007. She leaves two sons, Demetrios J. and Kosta J. Koutoulas; her daughter, Maria J. and her husband Chris Vasiliadis, all of Worcester; six grandchildren, Nicholas, Joanna, Alexis and Thomas Vasiliadis, Mia and Thea Koutoulas and their mother Deedee Koutoulas of Danvers; two cousins, Peter Kentros of Huntington, NY and George and Olga Kentros of Worcester; her best friend and “sister” Victoria Stefos of Worcester; and relatives here and in Greece.
She was born in Douviani, Northern Epirus the daughter of Thomas and Olga (Tsitsos) Efthimiou and came to Worcester in 1953. Mrs. Koutoulas had co-owned Jason’s Pizza with her husband for many years. She had been a long time and devoted member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, a member and past president of the Ladies Philoptochos Society, a member of St. Spyridon Seniors Group, and the Epirotic Society. Evanthia enjoyed time spent with family, most especially her grandchildren; and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and wonderful friend.
The family would like to thank her many friends for the love and support shown to them over the past years.
The funeral is Wednesday, December 30th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a service at 11:00 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, December 29th from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
