Ruthann Mixon Harper, 84, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Sunday, December 27, 2009 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at Arp Baptist Church with the Rev. David Biggers officiating and Adon "Scooter" Clark giving the eulogy. Interment will follow in Arp Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 7-9 P.M. at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Harper was born February 6, 1925 in Irwin County to the late William Columbus and Mary Ida Smith Mixon. She was a resident of Bainbridge, GA from 1949-1970. She was a former teacher at Lax School and was the retired owner & operator of Ruthann’s Beauty Shop. Mrs. Harper was a member of Osceola Chapter # 431of Order of Eastern Star where she held several offices and a member of Arp Baptist Church.
Mrs. Harper is survived by her husband of 64 years, Thomas Harper, Jr. of Ocilla, daughter and son-in-law, Annita & Pete Clark of Fitzgerald and son and daughter-in-law, Tommy & Melinda Harper of Ocilla; 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild: one sister, Billie Sue Bagley of Jacksonville, Florida. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Julian Mixon.
