Mrs. Caroline A. Luongo of Centerville, MA, passed away on Thursday morning, December 24, 2009. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony R. Luongo and daughter of the late Rose and John Venezia. Devoted mother to daughters Christina A. Luongo and Elaine B. Ruffing, both of Medford, MA. Caroline was also a caregiver to her late sisters, Maryanne Guiggio and Eleanor Amato.
Caroline passed away after a lengthy illness at the Woodbriar of Wilmington Nursing Home. She was employed for many years in the shoe industry as a fancy shoe stitcher. In later years, she worked for the Massachusetts Department of Education, Division of Teacher Certification, as a computer operator. She was a woman before her time. Caroline was an amazing cook and loved to garden around her home. She had a special love for her cherished roses. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting.
Caroline was also a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville, MA.
Her funeral mass was celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford on Thursday, December 31, 2009, at 10 AM. Many relatives and friends were in attendance. Visiting hours were held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Wednesday, December 30, 2009, from 4 to 8 PM. Entombment was in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
